Nope – requires a firmware upgrade available to the Onkyo model after mine. Ok but Onkyo has DTS Play Fi and it now supports critical listening mode, which is capable of playing high-res files. Nope….only streams an AAC file at 256 Kbs. The Onkyo’s DAC is more than capable to handle the resolution and I play Atmos movies on it all the time with great success, so I pull up some Ultra HD tracks. My first thought is to stream using the Amazon Music app built in on the Onkyo receiver. I decided my first trial will be with Amazon HD as I’m currently a Prime member, use the free service, and they have both high-res and Atmos tracks. I have Verizon FiOS (~56MBS) and stream movies with Atmos all the time. I have a 5.2.4 setup in my basement driving by an Onkyo RZ730 receiver which I really enjoy and would love to listen to atmos tracks. I am really interested in checking out high resolution tracks and even more interested in Dolby Atmos / 3D audio tracks. My daughter really wants me to go to Spotify as she uses the free app and really enjoys it. My plan is to check out Amazon HD, Tidal and Spotify. Well I really need some help understanding the use of music services and streaming high resolution files.Īfter many years of not using a streaming service (last one I used was Rhapsody) I’ve decided it’s time try one again.
